When a field or lot gets out of hand, two services come up most often: bush hogging and forestry mulching. They sound similar but do different things, and picking the right one saves money.
What bush hogging does
A bush hog (rotary cutter) is pulled behind a tractor and mows down tall grass, weeds, brush and light saplings. It's fast and cost-effective for maintaining open land, fields, ditch banks and vacant lots, but it doesn't remove roots or handle larger trees.
What forestry mulching does
Forestry mulching grinds brush, saplings and small-to-medium trees in place into a layer of mulch. It clears heavier growth than a bush hog can, leaves a clean finish, and needs no haul-off or burning.
How to choose
- Bush hogging for routine maintenance of grass, weeds and light brush on open land.
- Forestry mulching for reclaiming overgrown or wooded areas and a cleaner finished result.
For heavily wooded lots with large trees and stumps, full land clearing is the next step up, and we cover cost in clearing a wooded lot in Nash County.
