A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to save. The next time you visit, the site can read it back. It is how a site remembers things like whether you are signed in or what you clicked last time.
Browsers also offer similar tools called local storage and session storage. They do the same basic job (saving a small value on your device) but the value stays in your browser instead of being sent along with every request. This policy covers both, and we say "cookies" as shorthand for all of it.
Cookies cannot run programs, install anything, or read files on your computer.
We want to be straight with you about this, because plenty of sites are not.
This site uses an implied consent model for non-essential cookies. In practice that means:
Your choice is stored in your browser's local storage under the key ctl_cookie_consent. It never leaves your device, and it is not tied to your name or your email. Because it lives in your browser, it applies to that browser only. If you visit from your phone and your laptop, you will need to opt out on each one. Clearing your browsing data, using private or incognito mode, or switching browsers resets the choice, and the banner will show again.

We use analytics for one reason: to see which of our services (mowing and maintenance, landscaping, land clearing, demolition, bush hogging, driveway installation, drainage) people are actually looking for, so we can write better pages about them. We look at totals, not at individuals.
This site sets no advertising cookies and no cross-site tracking cookies. We do not run retargeting pixels, we do not build advertising profiles, we do not sell or share your browsing data, and we do not let third parties follow you from our site to other sites. If that ever changes, we will update this page and say so plainly.

You have three ways to say no, and any of them works.
Opting out does not break the site. Everything still works: the pages, the gallery, the phone links, and the free estimate form.
Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies. The exact wording moves around between versions, but the setting is in roughly the same place:
Two things worth knowing. Blocking all cookies and storage will also block our consent key, so this site will not be able to remember your opt-out and the banner may reappear. And browser controls apply to every site you visit, not just ours.
Some browsers can send a "Do Not Track" signal. There has never been an agreed industry standard for what a site must do when it receives one, and support for it has been dropped from several browsers.
To be honest with you: this site does not currently detect or respond to Do Not Track signals. We do not want to claim a protection we have not built. If you want analytics off, use the Cookie Settings button or your browser's cookie controls. Those we do honor.
Carolina Turf & Lawn serves Nash, Wilson, Edgecombe, Franklin, and Halifax counties in North Carolina. This website, and the opt-out consent model described above, are built for visitors in the United States.
The GDPR and the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations generally require prior opt-in consent before non-essential cookies are set. Our model does not do that: analytics start on arrival and you turn them off. So if you are visiting from the EU or the UK, or anywhere else that requires opt-in consent, please use the opt-out control on the banner as soon as you arrive, or block cookies at the browser level before browsing. That gives you the outcome an opt-in prompt would have given you.
If we add or remove a cookie, change providers, or change how consent works, we will update the table above and the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Since the analytics rows are marked pending, expect this page to be updated once Google Analytics is live.
